Broken is the first novel in a paranormal romance/urban fantasy series which has garnered more than 350 positive (4-star and 5-star) reviews at iTunes and Amazon across the first 4 installments and an average star rating of more than 4.1 stars.

The setup:
Adri Paige is too busy dealing with the emotional fallout from losing half of her family to deal with boys. At least she thought so until the two most intriguing guys in her new school take an interest in her.

Both boys are gorgeous and blessed with obscene amounts of money. They should have the emotional depth of note cards, but instead display undercurrents she doesn’t fully understand. Rumors the pair destroys peoples’ livelihoods seem ludicrous until she gets caught in the crossfire and her family almost loses their home. She’s increasingly unsure either boy is really human, and their rivalry is rapidly turning deadly.

I read this book just after finishing Torn. Torn left me with a lot of questions, but Broken answered them all and left me wanting it to go on. It was interesting to be able to read this story and understand what was happening with the other characters because I had read Torn. It was a very interesting idea for the author to make these books the same story, and yet so different that they could almost stand alone. What a great talent! –Beth

Author Bio:
Dean Murray is a fairly prolific author who has released 18 titles in the last two years across two different pen names. Dean has an estimated 100,000 copies of his work currently in circulation and shows no signs of slowing down.

Dean started reading seriously in the second grade due to a competition and has spent most of the subsequent three decades lost in other people’s worlds. After reading several local libraries more or less dry of sci-fi and fantasy, he started spending more time wandering around worlds of his own creation to avoid the boredom of the ‘real’ world.

Things worsened, or improved depending on your point of view, when he first started experimenting with writing while finishing up his accounting degree. These days Dean has a wonderful wife and daughter to keep him rather more grounded, but the idea of bringing others along with him as he meets interesting new people in universes nobody else has ever seen tends to drag him back to his computer on a fairly regular basis.

FORGOTTEN OBJECTS, traces the life of Anna d’Amio, daughter of opera singers Louis and Francesca d’Amio, from Mussolini’s Italy to the city of Pittsburgh during the mid sixties.

The novel proper is made up of three parts: Italy, Cuba and United States. Married at seventeen and widowed at twenty, Anna leaves war-torn Italy to find her fortune in Cuba, where she eventually meets Ramón Contreras, a wealthy tobacco grower who later becomes her second husband. The idyllic world that the couple had so laboriously built suddenly comes crashing down after the communist take over of the island and Ramón’ s sudden and violent death.

Now with two daughters under her care, Anna soon realizes that there is no future for them in Cuba, so she opts to send them to the United States through the Pedro Pan Program. Eventually she comes to the US herself, but by then the girls have been placed in foster homes. It is during this stage of her life, penniless and without influence, that she must make the greatest sacrifices to regain custody of her daughters.

At the end of the novel, we find a series of letters, all dated 2005, that were exchanged by the sisters after their mother passed away. Anna left behind a box containing a collection of sundry items that she had gathered throughout her life. Cognizant that these were significant to their mother, they attempt to piece together a sketch of her life through these forgotten objects.

A native of Cuba, Carlos Rubio came to the United States in 1961. A bilingual novelist, in Spanish he has writeen Caleidoscopio, Saga, Orisha and Hubris. Baby-boomer Meggie Moore finds life in the small town of Pine Lake, Minnesota, a little too mundane even with her part-time job at a local gift shop owned by Vera Cunningham, a spry lady in her late 70’s.

Always up for a challenge, Meggie accepts a housesitting position offered to her by an elderly gentleman. Walter, her husband of 30 years, objects since he had previously made her promise to give up this line of work after her first housesitting experience ended badly. Although not convinced that she will be safe at the house on Spirit Lake since there has been a rash of burglaries in the area, Walter reluctantly gives up trying to dissuade her from housesitting.

Meggie’s outspoken friend and side-kick, Shirley Wright, labels Meggie as a nut who has lost touch with reality and vehemently argues that the housesitting job would be extremely dangerous under the circumstances. But when Meggie accepts the position, Shirley is one of the first to visit her at the house on the lake.

Numerous islands dot Spirit Lake and the largest of these is Camper’s Island. Settling in on her first night, Meggie thinks she sees lights flickering near Camper’s Island, but it isn’t until she sees them for the second time that she becomes curious and wonders if they could somehow be connected to the burglaries.

Meggie’s adventure at the lake takes a sinister turn when she, along with Shirley, stumble on a lake neighbor strangled to death. Meggie and Shirley become suspects in the murder and find it necessary to do some investigating in order to clear their names, but risk their own lives in the process.

How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
Cozy mysteries are “fun reads.” You can sit down in the evening, read one and not be afraid to look over your shoulder on the way to bed!

Cozies are known to contain no graphic violence, profanity, or explicit sex. While some cozy authors may cross that line on occasion, I don’t. Instead you will find a light mystery with lovable characters and the element of humor.

What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
If you want to write – go for it! Make it a lifetime goal. Find a writing group in your area. Learn from other writers. Write what you know. Think positive!

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
The idea to write a novel struck me when I was a young mother. Raising five children, I didn’t have a lot of spare time, but when I did I would sit down with a book. One day while reading a novel that was not particularly good I thought to myself, “I could write better than this.” And so, it became a lifetime goal to write a novel.

A fan of “cozy” novels, I chose to write a cozy mystery series – Tales of a Tenacious Housesitter. Home Sweet Murder is book 1 in the series. Book 2, Home for the Murder, is due to be published in June, 2013. Publisher – North Star Press of St. Cloud, Inc.
