What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I always wondered if I had a book in me. In 1977 I kept a diary for the whole year. I kept scrapbooks for every school year after that almost through college. Pouring through these materials after unearthing them from my attic inspired me to write. I had the idea that I would roll my experiences with several boyfriends back in the day into one life long relationship.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The character of Mitch Hudgins is a compilation of several boyfriends from back in the day. Some of the things that April and Mitch Hudgins go through actually happened to me, such as being taunted with someone cheating on their girlfriend over spring break right to my face!

"God April, you're in my bed again. I want to bury myself in you." And bury himself he did. It made April realize that what she thought sex was before was really just knocking at the door. He pushed deep inside her. She arched her back and moaned. Telling him she was on the pill was a conversation for another time, but the enabling train of thought came up again.
They couldn't get enough of each other. "I want to feel you in my veins" he mumbled. He was being very dramatic. Maybe he thought April didn't hear him but she did. Why does that desperation feeling always come up between us? Well maybe because we're not supposed to be doing this, April thought to herself.
April was straight up cheating on Owen, there was no denying that. Except no one knew.
