The beginning of the 1st book in the series came in a dream and an article in Time magazine. Heroes today are few. And we need more of them. This book is a continuation of that theme. It goes into the backstories of the characters and how they met, seen in the eyes of the unit medic.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
This book was originally a concept I came up with in sixth grade while I was experimenting with stories to find my genre. I wanted to write something from multiple perspectives that would allow me to show off some of my favorite character archetypes and experiment with writing first person in the male voice. When I started work with Kindle Vella this past summer, I pulled this story out of the archives to revamp it and give it a new look. I aged up the characters, made the challenges a little more complicated, and played around with some more serious themes.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
A high school history lecture on the American Civil War. I didn't think anything could be worse than living as a slave and then thought, "What if it wasn't about race, but gender? And what if the women in charge weren't all that nice?" It morphed from there.

I love storytelling and wanted to write a story about my favorite question: "How far would you go to protect your loved ones?" Also, I've always been intrigued my morally questionable main characters, fast-paced action, and introspection of every person's double life.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
The core idea of the book was influenced by a few factors. In the 1980s there was a speculative TV show called The Twilight Zone. As a teenager I was inspired by the memorable, creative and extreme what-if scenarios. I didn't think back then about writing my own speculative fiction story, that didn't happen until I began this novel a few years ago and discovered that The Twilight Zone's influence had stood the test of time.
For years I worked in various administrative roles in several companies and was saddened at times observing how mindless negative behaviours or actions would conveniently be jotted off to 'just business'. Trapped in Peace at its core is a good vs evil story based in a multinational company and my work experience lended credibility to the setting, and the 'just-business' cop-out attitude, well, that stuck to my psyche just like the Zone. Lastly, the overarching influence and continuing guiding light for this project was a spiritual element, specifically the theme of forgiveness, one that on my own personal spiritual path I have found both intriguing and, admittedly, at times a struggle to apply on a practical level. I've read plenty of non-fiction on the subject but wanted to explore through fiction just how damaging it can be to hold on to anger, fear, resentment and unforgiveness.

Can the crown jewel be used to save our planet? Abhimanyu or Rudhran, who’s vision will become true? What will be the future of our species and this planet? Along with all these questions, answers for our genesis and purposes on this planet are unveiled with the help of the crown jewel.

Interest in parallel narrative story telling and the trying to give a perspective for the big questions like why are we here and where we came from inspired me to write this book.

Sweet As Murder by Patricia M Muhammad

Wilhemina is a coloured detective in 1950s Atlanta, Georgia. She is married to Charles, an Anglo-Brit. Lieutenant Carmichael sends her and Detective Arthur Dobson undercover at the Society’s annual baking competition to investigate a murder committed during the preliminaries. There is more at stake for than a blue ribbon prize. Wilhemina presents herself as a baker. Arthur is a judge. Dorothy is an associate of the Society and a contestant. She uses allegations of Communism to progress her way through the competition until she realizes that she has been socially disposed of by the Society. Dankworth notices that the baker Marceline plays with ‘light’. A vagrant outside the Society’s building is stabbed. He is more important than most would think. One baker is poisoned the first day of the competition. Another dies after engaging in a fight with a competitor. Wilhemina learns of this light and is able to communicate with Charles while he is at work. She realizes that the method of death in her cases is atypical. The detectives seem to be no closer to solving the case, until the winner of the competition is announced.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
After writing my first mystery/detective novel, The Speakeasy Murders, I decided that if I were to continue in this genre, I would choose a different time period. The Speakeasy Murders is set in the 1920s. My second standalone mystery/detective novel, Murder By Dissent, is set in the 1960s. The 1950s was the following era that I inclined to. The time period where women were expected to be solely dutiful housewives was the backdrop I wanted to juxtaposed to a 'coloured' female detective married to an Anglo-Brit. In this novel, the female detective has to interact in a setting she is not accustomed to: 1) Wilhemina Dankworth is no baker. She is a working woman who, other than not really being a cook, cares for her husband and their home; 2) She is the only female detective at the local station house. To place her in a setting where she must experience the idle tongues of women who seek to defeat their competitors by nefarious means is quite foreign to her socialization and the way she carries herself. In spite of this, she realizes that the competition has more at stake than the blue ribbon prize. I wanted to add another detour in her (and the readers' ) attempt to solve the murders–a bit of magical realism.
