Alessandra Powell was raised by her grandmother. Not because her parents were dead, but rather because her mother didn’t want her and her father wasn’t even aware of her existence.
When tragedy struck and her grandmother died, Alessandra was faced with an impossible decision. She could reach out to her father, a prominent political figure in her state and convince him to help her or go into foster care until she’s eighteen.
In this installment of the series, we meet Alessandra and follow her life as she goes through all of these life-altering changes.
This is a young adult, coming of age book. In it Alessandra discovers love and her sexuality.
Targeted Age Group:: YA, adult

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I wanted to write a story about a young woman who wasn’t playing the ‘damsel in distress’ card all the time. I wanted her to be strong and independent.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
I wanted to write a story about a young woman who despite going through a lot in life was strong and resilient. Through Alessandra Powell I do believe I was able to achieve that. Although flawed, she strives to be honest and do her best.

“Alessandra, I understand this isn’t the outcome you were hoping for, but you must understand how delicate this situation is. The moment I call Miss Wade, someone from her office WILL leak to the press that I’m your father, and the negative impact of the public finding out I have a sixteen-year-old daughter whose lost her only other living relative and has been sent to foster care will be devastating to my career. People will conclude that I knew about you all along and decided to ignore you for sixteen years. Even worse, that I selfishly allowed you to go into foster care instead of opening my home to you. Now, we have a doctor waiting outside who will collect DNA samples to confirm what we already know. The moment that positive test result is in, you’ll be moving into this house.”
Shit! The tone he uses lets me know he’s not fooling around, and there’s no room for negotiation. Come Tuesday, I will either be living here or I’ll be sent to a foster home. Either way, my life will change, and I’ll be screwed.
