About The Christmas Cats Encounter Bats by Constance Corcoran Wilson
“The Christmas Cats Encounter Bats,” 3rd book in “The Christmas Cats” series, will be on a special $1.99 promotion beginning at 8 a.m. (PST) December 16 and ending at 11 p.m. on December 22, 2014—just in time for Christmas. Check out the colorful “Christmas Cats in Silly Hats” (Book #1) at the dedicated website (www.TheXmasCats.com) to find out what these cute felines have been up to since Book #2, “The Christmas Cats Chase Christmas Rats,” which was named one of the 7 BEST BOOKS published by a Chicago author by the CWA (Chicago Writers’ Association) in October, from among hundreds of entries.
The illustrated cats of this series travel about (attired in Silly Hats) doing good deeds and helping other animals. While they’re having fun and entertaining children with the Seussical rhyming verse and Gary McCluskey’s excellent illustrations, they are also modeling good behavior for young readers aged 3 to 10.
In Book One, students learned that cooperation is the name of the game and we all must learn to get along peacefully. The inspiration for the story was 2 warring cats in the author’s home—and 2 twin girls (the author’s granddaughters, Ava & Elise) after one bit the other on the nose!
In Book #2, the author points out that we shouldn’t judge others without investigating thoroughly. “It’s best to be open and trusting and kind, and always to keep an open mind.”
In this year’s Book #3, the Christmas Cats are called upon to help with an infestation of bats. “Bats are weird creatures and they scare us, it’s true. But they’re useful in nature for me and for you.” Book #3 will be specially priced at $1.99 on Kindle from Dec. 16-22 and Book #2 will be specially priced (at $1.99) from Dec. 18-24, just in time for Santa’s visit.
The author, a veteran educator and author of “Training the Teacher As A Champion” (PLS Bookstores) sits down each year with Ava and Elise Wilson and they pick the animal and the story.
Next year, the cats will help the deer in Scott County Park (IA) avoid hunters who are allowed to thin the herd within the city limits. Join “The Christmas Cats in Silly Hats” as they rhyme their way into your hearts and enjoy the FREE downloadable coloring book pages and mazes on the dedicated website (www.TheXmasCats.com), with interactive activities for your budding artists that will be displayed on the website if Mom and Dad scan them and send them in.
